Winter Haircare: How to soothe and prevent a dry scalp

Hey there, friends!

As a hairstylist, one of the most common things I hear from my clients during the winter season is that their scalp is dry and itchy. Cold weather, indoor heating, and the use of hats can all contribute to a dry, itchy scalp. A dry scalp can be uncomfortable and it can even lead to hair loss. But don't worry, there are things you can do to nourish and moisturize your scalp and keep it healthy!

First of all, it's important to avoid using hot water when washing your hair. Hot water can strip the scalp of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. Use lukewarm water instead.

Next, consider exfoliating your scalp regularly. Just like your face, your scalp can benefit from a good exfoliation to remove excess oil, dirt, and product build-up. I recommend using the Innersense True Enlightenment Scalp Scrub, a gentle exfoliator made with natural ingredients like sea salt and essential oils. To use the scalp scrub, wet your hair and massage a small amount into your scalp. Gently scrub your scalp for a few minutes, using your fingertips to loosen and remove any excess oil, dirt, or product build-up. Rinse your hair thoroughly and follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner. This product can be used once a week to help keep your scalp clean and healthy.

In addition to exfoliating, using a leave-in scalp treatment can help nourish and moisturize your scalp. My go-to product is Cult + King Tonik, a leave-in scalp treatment made with natural ingredients like biotin and panthenol, which help to strengthen and protect the hair. This product also contains botanical extracts like rosemary and peppermint, which stimulate the scalp and promote healthy hair growth.

Give your scalp a little TLC by massaging it. Massaging your scalp can improve blood flow and stimulate the production of natural oils, leading to a healthier scalp and more beautiful hair. Use your fingertips to gently massage your scalp for a few minutes each day.

By following these tips and using the right products, you can help to keep your scalp healthy and your hair looking its best. If you have any questions or want to try out these products, give me a shout! I'm always here to help.
